Doctor

Dr. Scott W Kelman , B.Sc., D.V.M.

Dr. Kelman is a 1998 graduate of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Kelman came to the Bow Bottom Veterinary Hospital in 1999 following a one-year stint as a mixed animal practitioner in small-town Saskatchewan, and quickly felt at home in Calgary. Dr. Kelman became a partner at the practice in January 2001. His areas of interest lie mainly in internal medicine, endoscopy, and pain management.

Dr. Kelman is a member in good standing of the Canadian and Alberta Veterinary Medical Associations, the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) and the Calgary Academy of Veterinary Medicine.

In his spare time Dr. Kelman thrives on spending time with his young children. He also has a multitude of pets at home including fish, mice, a gentle Greyhound named "Qeynos" and two crazy American Shorthairs named "Bubba" and "Diego". Unfortunately, our old dog Tufa passed away last year (that's Tufa in the background in the picture to the right). You can reach Dr. Kelman at dr.kelman@telus.net.

Dr. Julie T Schell , B.Sc. (Hons.), D.V.M.

Dr. Julie Schell graduated in 2002 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and joined Bow Bottom Veterinary Hospital and Boarding Centre in April of 2002 and in September 2003 she became partner. She was born and raised in Calgary and completed a Bachelor of Science in Honours Zoology at the University of Calgary in 1998. Dr. Schell enjoys writing animal health columns for pet magazines and has appeared on A-Channel's Big Breakfast and CityTV's Breakfast TV to discuss animal health. Dr. Schell was awarded the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association Young Vet of the Year in 2006. Dr. Schell thoroughly enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has special interests in surgery, diagnostic imaging, oncology, nutrition, ophthalmology and dentistry. A Shiba Inu, a Siamese cat, four Canaries, and two Cockatiels comprise her pet family. Dr. Schell lives by this phrase: "Do what you love and love what you do, and you'll never work a day in your life."

Management

Tracey Ruzicka , AHT, VOM

Tracey grew up in Southern Saskatchewan on a mixed cattle and grain farm and, as a little girl, was always surrounded by animals. Tracey graduated from the Animal Health Technology program at Lakeland College in 1998. She joined the Bow Bottom team in the summer of 2001. Tracey has been taking registered Veterinary Management training courses and is a very competent veterinary office manager. She is in charge of helping direct hospital developments and improvements, human resorces and client satisfaction. An excellent problem solver, Tracey is always ready to perfect client service and patient care! Tracey loves to visit all clients and their pets. She has 2 cats of her own - Shaka and Zeuko.

Technician

Joni McCracken , AHT

Joni is a very friendly and talented Animal Health Technologist who graduated from Nait. We are so proud of Joni, she is advancing her knowledge of ultrasound imaging and has a keen interest in weight managment for pets. She shares her home with a fantastic Border Collie/Elkhound mix named Jag, two sweet Chow Chows named Kuma and Pandora and two wonderful cats named Batman(pictured here) and Mooshu. She thoroughly enjoyes her multifaceted duties as an Animal Health Technologist including improving the lives of pets by helping to educate pet owners.

Erin Scott , AHT

Erin is an Animal Health Technologist, who graduated from Olds College. She loves animals and can't wait to take care of yours! Erin's special interests include puppy education and helping overweight pets lose the extra pounds.

Carly Buck , AHT

Carly is a fantastic, enthusiatic animal loving individual as well as a certified Animal Health Technician. She is the proud owner of a beautiful Shepherd mixed breed dog named Cadence and a lovely horse named Zoey.

Reception

Iris Bodnarchuk

Iris is a multi-dimentional, multi-tasking animal lover who is one of the friendly faces helping clients and pets at reception. Iris is always helping out, soon she will also be trained as an assistant! She is the owner of three amazing and well loved dogs named Dakota and Laredo and her newest addition Legend. Laredo is a very special dog who recently appeared with Dr. Schell on BTV!

Rayvin Brewer

Rayvin is a fantastic, organized and happy individual, exquisitely suited for our reception team. She is happy to greet you and your pets and answer telephones.

Assistants

Kim Hyndman , VOA

Kim is a recent graduate of Robertson College where she achieved a diploma for Veterinary Office Assistant. Her enthusiastic nature is well suited for helping to care for our beloved patients and hospital. Kim owns a sweet cat named Flurrie and a pretty puppy named Dylan.

Hannah Kenworthy

Hannah is currently going to Olds College to become a certified Animal Health Technologist. We are lucky to have her as a team member! Her experience and enthusiasm for improving animal health is fantastic!

Extended Care/Day Care

Stephanie Dolan

Stephanie works hard to keep our extended care and day care facility organized and welcoming for your pet's stay. She owns a curious puppy named Rosie.

Rayvin helps keep the pets safe and happy while staying with us. She makes sure they are receiving their treatments. At home she cares for two cats named Tucker and Millie.

Tanice loves playing and grooming all of the extended care and day care guests. She is always smiling and helps keep the pets happy and well loved!

Jessica is an animal enthusiast who enjoys looking after our extended care guests and giving tours of our facilities! She loves pets and makes them feel right at home!

Jennifer's goal is to become a veterinarian. She is a very helpful team member and her goal is to help keep your pets happy and healthy during their stay!
