Routine deworming is not only important for your pets' health and safety, but also for the people that live in your community. Be a responsible pet owner! Children, the elderly community and people with compromised immune systems are all at high risk to be infected with zoonotic parasites.

Bow Bottom Veterinary Information on Internet Pharmacies
We have received previous requests/interests in purchasing medication from an online pharmacy for pets. Before we move forward with this request we want to make sure you are aware of some risks you may be encountering by choosing to fill your pet’s medication through this source.

· Most pharmaceutical companies will not guarantee any medication that is not purchased from a Veterinarian or Veterinary hospital/Clinic. Purchases made via online pharmacies/mail order companies do not have the company standing behind the medication. Many of these products are considered Black or Grey market products. Many products are short-dated, have not been handled or stored properly, distorted doses and sometimes are even counterfeit (a placebo in packaging made to look like the intended product).

· Manufacturing companies are often outside of Canada or the US where the standards and conditions of the factory may not be as high as they are in North America. They are not guaranteed to be FDA approved.

· Prescription medication needs to be properly monitored for your pets’ safety, and we are here to help out should your pet suffer a reaction to the medication. There is a higher risk of uncertainty and inconsistency with online medication, this can make treatment of reactions more difficult because we don’t know what we might encounter with this medication.

Our primary concern is the safety of our patients. We understand it is your choice to fill medication where you choose. We recommend you use a licensed Veterinary hospital rather than an online pharmacy. It is a pretty bold statement when the pharmaceutical company itself will not stand behind any medication purchased through these pharmacies.

We will not deal directly with online pharmacies, so should you choose to receive your pet’s medications from this source you will need to ensure they receive the scripts. Our accountability is to our patients and clients, rather than the needs of 3rd party pharmacies. We realize this is your choice as a consumer, and will provide a script for medication to you that your pet requires, should you choose not to purchase the medication from us directly from us.

We do understand your concerns regarding the costs in managing
your pets illness. However, as professionals we cannot compromise our standards because we are ultimately responsible for any treatments that we prescribe. We hope you understand. If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to call us here at Bow Bottom.
Thank you.
